Rethinking Rural Transit
When most people think of bus transit, we picture a big city, big buses, and fixed stops. But as society’s habits and needs have evolved, so too have bus service designs. Today, it’s common for rural counties to offer a bus service that provides door-to-door transportation for anyone in the public.
A Legacy of Service in Knox County
Public transit has been a cornerstone of Knox County for more than 25 years, operating under a few different names. As we launch into a new era as Knox County Transit, we remain steadfast in our commitment to three core values: compassion, connection, and community.
Compassion
Every staff member takes pride in the work we do. We care deeply about our riders and work tirelessly to meet the transportation needs of Knox County. Every driver is motivated by the desire to serve and help our community.
Connection
Every trip we provide is a vital part of our riders’ lives. Whether it’s for work, medical care, grocery shopping, or visiting a friend, we offer the essential link that takes our community members from isolation to independence.
Community
We exist to serve the community, and we are sustained by the support of our residents. By providing access to businesses, organizations, and events, we create opportunities that enhance the quality of life for everyone in Knox County.
Thank You for Riding With Us
We are grateful to the thousands of residents who ride with us each month and allow us to serve you. Each trip we take together helps build Knox County into a more accessible and independent community.
